Thats a sign, don’t you know. There are only two directions, in place and forward. Backsliding has a negative connotation. Think of it as the ”getting ready for the next stage” position. Best of luck in moving forward! : )
Hi, I agree with Janine, Backsliding is a difficult word to rally around. We all have our own way of getting through this maze. I want to congratulate you on your weight loss. It is great. You are correct. Your body will shed more pounds when it is ready!! The important thing is to stay on course with healthy eating to keep the weight off.
We have all released weight, keeping it off seems to be elusive for many. I feel so much better eating like this that I find it easy to stay on plan. All I have to do is recall the list of things that I was plagued with.

Thanks for the responses, but I think we are a little off track here. Backsliding is simply a reality in any diet program. Of course its important to stay on track, but this is not a reality for many. Temptations abound and people often find themselves straying from the diet. It does no good to deny or avoid this reality. This group could talk about why this happens and we could share how we were able to bet back on track. A backsliding group wouldn’t encourage backsliding, but would help those who dropped off the diet by talking about the mentality and behaviors that lead to it, and the tools that can be used to get back to healthy eating.
Great idea, a better group name might be staying on track or returning to the program. The only issue we have is with the word, giving the reality more energy than it needs. In fact you are correct, we have to work this plan in a way that is doable. If you are at a wedding you can choose to have nothing or you can have an ounce of champagne and a bite or two of cake. Either way you are true to the plan. Some people never give up coffee completely or never use supplements and that works for them.
As far as giving up on the plan for a day during the first 6 weeks, the best thing is to enjoy your foray, then to start up the following day. It many cases the pleasure is not as great as anticipated or you learn what is really going on with your eating. In my case reintroducing foods caused symptoms that I did not want and that was enough incentive to stay on track
This site is a good way to keep yourself on track because it is not so much fun to report that one is off the plan. And there is lots of encouragement to return if you stray.
Sadly, it takes a lot of courage and strength to get through the first couple of weeks for most people. Then it seems to get easier.
Of course Nicole and myself would participate what ever your group name.
Blessings, Margaret
Maybe staff needs to create public groups.
