Diet & Nutrition 1 year, 1 month ago I can’t imagine just having 15 carbs at a meal and since I’m going to be starting on the advanced program we can’t have any beans – that lets off a lot of what I eat in basic plan, no flour, no fruit (except 1/2 cup berries) oh, well I’ll give it a go in a few days. Got to eat the food that I have for this week. Are eggs okay?

Eggs are fine.
If you think you were feeling better without the sugar, that could be reason enough to keep on the plan. This is a radical change, but your appetite will most likely drop and things like celery with almond butter taste really good. As does sea weed snacks with hummus. Hummus seems to be ok on the advanced plan, if you eat small amounts at a time.
I found a thing called kelp noodles that are ok. I like the texture, very crunchy. Almost no carbs or calories. They are fine hot or cold. Walnut pesto goes good with them and I have had them with fresh lime juice and a touch of tamari.
You can eat all the salads you want and lots of vegetables.
It might make it easier to stay on plan if you concentrate your thoughts on what you can eat.
Also, choose a favorite food allowed on the plan (olives, macademia nuts, pickles) that you do not have much of because of cost or the decadence factor and let yourself have plenty of it for a treat.
As you proceed through the weeks things get easier. One day at a time will get you through this successfully.

Love your suggestion to Marlon to concentrate of what we can have, Margaret. Do hang in there with us, Marlon! Makes it easier doing it together, doesn’t it? Anna
Where does it say that you can’t have beans on the advanced plan? I’m confused.
It is mentioned in passing in the BSS book. The nutritional coaches also mentioned it to me in a private answering session. I am finishing week 6 and I did have hummus, in small servings, the first 4 weeks. I am on the advanced plan. Good luck with your program, Margaret
Margaret, thanks. I still can’t log on to the nutritionist. Is there a way to contact the site to let them know I’m having trouble?
Did you sign up for the service? If you did they should have sent you an e-mail explaining how to use the site. Be sure to save the link to the site that they send you. Did you check your junk mail box to see if their message went there?
If you did not sign up you will have to go the the BSS home page and look under nutritional coaching and there will be a sign up place.
If you need tech help, there is some available on some pages as well.
Blessings, Margaret
Thanks, Margaret. I finally figured it out.
In the download called Nutrition Basics for Everyone it says: Eholr htsind, Legumes: Red, regan and yellow lentils, black beans, kidney beans, adzuki beans, mung beans, chick peas, pinto, black-eyed and fava beans. Good luck with this.
Thanks Marion and Margaret.
Marion, are those beans to eat or NOT to eat?
Hi Ellenbeth:
This is stuff that you cannot eat. You can find the whole list under dowload –

Note: Chick Peas == Hummus
Never had kelp noodles, but your description of texture makes me want to try them! The walnut pesto sounds really good, too. You know, eating well is about looking for all the foods out there that we may never have tried or heard about and getting completely away from the foods all the rest of the world is eating. Our new food choices are making us healthy and, happily enough, are surprisingly delicious. It is really fun to eat foods and really TASTE them. Before, our taste buds were blasted with salt, sugar and fat. No wonder we had to eat more to taste what we were putting in our mouths.
Great post, perhaps you should copy that and post it as an entry when you sign on. I think it could inspire others. Margaret
Thanks, Margaret. I really feel encouraged by all your and everyone’s positive comments here.
