Hormone Imbalances 10 months, 4 weeks ago My hormones were showing out of balance, some in menopausal levels even, and possible Hashimotos. I couldn’t get an appt with my endocrinologist until end of August. I knew I was in perimeno previously.
My question is about soy. There is so much controversy over it, and I notice that Dr. Hyman encourages the use of soy proteins, soy milk, and soy products such as tempeh, tofu, miso and natto, and not the overprocessed types.
My family has a history of breast and other cancers, so I’m concerned about the research and controversy over use of soy products. I am half Japanese and grew up occasionally eating tofu, edamame, and miso, but I’m wondering how safe it is for me to use soy milk and proteins and tofu on a daily basis with this diet?
I also have twin 14 yr old stepdaughters who have a high risk of cancer as their mom had the cancer gene and died at 34 yrs old from cancers and it has happened in both paternal and maternal sides for them. They are eating the same as I am (and my husband as well) on this diet… is it putting them at any higher risk to increase soy intake to this level of daily use?

Good question for the nutritionist.
