Haven’t posted in awhile but I’m still going strong. Week 15 day 5 now, feeling wonderful, still off my diabetes medication & BG remains normal! Feeling great, still losing weight & inches, 20 lbs. now. For those who are new to the program, it is very do-able. You will soon prefer the taste of vegetables to all the crap you were eating before!…[Read more]

Just completed my 6 week advanced plan..down 13 lbs & 3 inches off waist and feeling terrific. I am actually craving vegetables now of all kinds. Eating lots of stir fries & throwing in all kinds of veggies with my lean protein. I am completely satisfied when I finish my meal & not looking for “goodies” between meals. It’s funny how your taste…[Read more]

Well this is it, I’ve finished my 6 week advanced plan, weighed in & measured this morning. I’m down 13 lbs & 3 inches off the waist. Best of all I feel terrific & I am off all my diabetes meds. BG reading this morning was 85. I thought it would be much harder than this but once you’ve finally committed to starting it gets easier. I’m actually…[Read more]

It’s amazing how many foods have sugar in them…it takes a lot of diligent reading of labels to find a product without some form of sugar in it or dairy. It is well worth the effort. I live in a small town also so what I do is stock up when I go to the city. You’ll soon learn which brands are okay & which to stay away from.

    • Agreed. It’s a lot of hard work at first, but once you find some good brands, it’s a heck of a lot easier. Sorry I can’t help you with the Canadian products. Hopefully someone will post soon.

If you follow the plan you will make a huge dent in your blood glucose levels. I went from Metformin (3 x 850 mg) to zero pills within 1 week and my levels are very stable all through the day! And I feel amazing!

Wow, I can’t believe it. Just one week on the advanced program & I’m off my diabetes meds and have a BG reading of 85 this morning. And I feel fantastic! Thank you Dr. Hyman!!

I’m on day 6 of the advanced plan and already cut down my Metformin from 3 tabs of 850 mg/day to only 1 tab a day..my glucose levels are 80 to 90! And I’m feeling great & added bonus I’m losing weight! It takes a little planning to prepare the meals but well worth the effort.

Can I have carrots on the advanced plan?

    • No. Some of the recipes that say they are OK for the advanced plan have a very small amount of carrots per serving, but in general, no.

    • I was one of the beta testers for the Blood Sugar Solution. We could have carrots on both the basic and advanced plans. Carrots are a non-starchy vegetable and were included on an approved list of vegetables provided to us by Dr. Hyman’s team. I’ve been on the advanced plan for over 5 months, eat carrots daily, continue to lose weight and my…[Read more]

      • Susan, How has it been going for you? Has the weight loss been steady or just slow? I am just starting week 3, had a great week 1 with the weight loss, nothing week 2, but my clothes are fitting much better. I am getting ready to step up the exercise this week. I am trying to focus on the 6 weeks and then focus on the next 6 weeks, instead of such…[Read more]

        • Kristen, some of the beta testers lost weight incredibly fast and others more slowly. My weight loss has been slow and steady. I have been on the plan since mid-October and have lost 30 lbs. I think how quickly you lose weight has to do with your age, metabolism, medical conditions and how closely you follow the plan. I like your idea of focusing…[Read more]

          • Susan,
Thanks so much for sharing. That is very encouraging. I have always been a slow weight loss person and i tend to just get frustrated and give up and i am determind to not do that this time! Its encouraging to know that even though its slow, its ongoing, thats what i needed to hear ;)

      • Thanks for the clarification. I now can’t find it on any list – it isn’t on the low glycemic download. Is there another list of non-starchy vegetables?

        • I know from reading the book that it is not always clear as to whether or not we can eat certain foods. As beta testers, we would frequently seek clarification from the beta team. When asked, Dr. Hyman’s team provided us with a list of non-starchy vegetables. An accompanying statement indicated this list was not comprehensive but a good…[Read more]

    • I agree with Barbara, carrots, especially raw, created blood sugar level problems for me. I am on the advanced plan. I can tolerate a small amount (tablespoon or two) if mixed in with lots of other vegetables, but not alone. Some foods that are allowed in general do not work well with individuals.
      Your body will tell you.

    • I’ve been doing the advanced plan for 6 weeks and I don’t do root vegetables, beans or fruit of any kind. I have seen miraculous results.
