You are right that I know what I need to do! The challenge is to do it. Yesterday I finally added more supplements into my routine, including magnesium, the metagenics metaglycemX, policosanol and l-tyrosine at the suggestion of my very helpful doctor, in addition to the few things I was already taking such as vitamin d, fish oil and a…[Read more]

Now my challenge is to lose some more weight. I am increasing my walking and drinking more water as a starting point. I am going to look in the attic for my dusty hand weights, bring the bicycle down and put some air in the tires. I am going to have to more strictly monitor the food. Luckily I love to make home cooked meals. I am using more…[Read more]

Bob’s newest diagnosis is psoriatic arthritis rather than the initial impression of rheumatoid. Sounds like psoriatic has some similarities to rheumatoid and it too is an auto immune disease. Luckily for now, he is doing better with the temporary help of prednisone, but we are concerned for the road ahead. He is continuing the gluten free diet…[Read more]

After a year on the advanced plan, and glad to still be keeping off the 42 or more lbs. I lost, and still being off insulin, my blood sugar numbers are creeping back up. • Wow, Ruth, that’s great news to keep off the weight and stay off insulin! Congratulations on 1 year on the BSS program. I’m sure that your post inspires many, especially the newbies, who may not be convinced that this CAN be a lifelong plan. I hope to be off oral meds sometime this year, and be Rx free like you.

Eating later in the day, Stress level, weight increase, Increase in portion sizes Not drinking enough liquids . I have to do my two walks each day , if I don’t I need to increase my insulin. Thanks Margaret. Bob already avoids cheese as he’s very lactose intolerant. However it is new for him to try to be gluten free. We’ll see if avoiding the wheat makes him feel any better. I’m so glad it helps you. And I appreciate the encouragement. Thank you.

    Hi Greg,
When I needed to find a functional medicine doctor in upstate New York, I received help by calling Dr. Hyman’s staff in Lenox, Massachusetts and they explained how to access a list of functional medicine practitioners through this web site. You may want to call them too.

    Hi Margaret,
I am wondering if you happen to know anything about rheumatoid arthritis? Both my husband and I have diabetes type 2. We’ve both improved our health a lot through the blood sugar solution diet. However, Bob was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis today and we’re both feeling devastated. We want to learn everything we can about…[Read more]

    • Hi Ruth, I do know my pain and swelling from Rheumatoid arthritis has gone away since following the advanced plan. I do not know if that means the arthritis itself is being reversed. I did have very severe pain and now have none. I had swelling on some of my joints and that is gone.

That is a good idea of using a smaller serving. Sometimes I get stuck in that all or nothing mentality–& forget that maybe just a little taste of something might be satisfying enough. That’s great that your husband is pursuing a health coach program. And I hadn’t realized the PGX fiber could prevent blood sugar spikes. I’m glad that’s helping you. Maybe it would help me too. Out the door now to walk the dog!

    • Fiber, protein and oils slow down the digestion when means your sugar spiking is going to be lessened. What PGX and Bioslife Slim does is coat the stomach with a gel like substance which slows down the digestion, this sticky substance attracts foods you are eating, attaching to it , slowing down the digestion. The fiber also helps move your food…[Read more]
