Diet & Nutrition 11 months, 2 weeks agoTwo questions: First: What kind of protein powder do you recommend for smoothies? My grocery store had whey protein and whey protein isolate? aren’t they both dairy?
Next: Salad dressings are killing me. I never realized how much junk they had in them. What do you use with your salads? (And know I was a sweet salad dressing kinda girl-

Can’t help with Stevia, but I’m a SweetNLow Addict. I decided I’d try to do just two days. And I’ve gone 5. And if I can’t have pink packets in my tea, I don’t want my tea. So I’ve been off caffeine for 5 days. My husband thinks I’ve lost my mind. It’s probably been 25 years or longer since I did without. Start with a small goal…[Read more]

In reply to: Meg posted an update in the group Social Issues How do you start to take your life back when when you constantly want to shun all social events and are most comfortable by yourself? ViewMeg, I don’t have an answer for you, but I totally relate. I feel like I have been hiding out for so long. Because of my weight and because I’ve felt like crap for so many years. I hope that this new burst of energy from eating right and taking care of my body will help. At some point, if I’m willing to make these drastic changes in my diet…[Read more]

I’m excited. I’m nervous. My head is splitting. I’m on day three. No caffiene for the first time in 25 years. I guess I should have READ THE BOOK about tapering off. Duh. Too late now. I’ve always been a “cold turkey” kinda girl anyway. I feel like I need to go to a 12 step meeting for giving up so many things at once. But I have…[Read more]

In reply to: TriciaNY posted an update Confession: after 4 weeks and 4 days on the plan I had a bite of my husband’s birthday cake yesterday. I made the cake without a single lick of the beaters (my old practice). All of his […] ViewWell heck. I’m proud of you! My kid has a birthday this weekend and I’m only on Day 3. You gave me courage. Thanks.

I use Nutribiotic – Vegan Rice Protein Powder Plain. I find that the whey is too heavy and dairy-ish. I like this protein powder a lot, it has 2 carbs per serving and 12g of protein. It tastes fine–I heard the vanilla one is good (no added sweeteners). I got it at Whole Foods. For a dressing I just use balsamic vinegar and olive oil with salt and…[Read more]
I went to a holistic foods store for my protein powders as well. There was a brown rice protein powder on sale and I bought that. Its vanilla flavored and good. There is also hemp powder. Its a protein powder, very good. Kris Carr recommended a brand of powder called Navitas. I bought the hemp powder from them and also goji powder. Also,…[Read more]
I don’t think it is available everywhere but I am now using Bolt House Farms Extra Virgin Olive Oil Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. It has no sugar, only 30 calories a 2 TBSP serving and taste great. I was making my own olive oil balsamic vinegar dressing but the flavor was lacking. That’s a great idea to mix some up with some fruit in my…[Read more]
I make my own Japanese Ginger Salad Dressing using Tamari instead of soy sauce. Just look it up on Allrecipes.com.
My favorite salad dressing is a lemon, mustard, olive oil, Balsamic vinegar (MAKE SURE IT IS THE RED Balsamic the white tastes funny and the darker the better) with one to two teeth of garlic, a pinch of salt and good amount of pepper and thymian. But if you really like something sweet, try raspberries, honey, and white vinegar with a little bit…[Read more]
