A homemade Red Hot Sauce I came across on the Food Network (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/homemade-red-hot-sauce-recipe/index.html):

    Ingredients
20 tabasco or serrano chiles, stemmed and cut crosswise into 1/8-inch slices, or 12 very ripe red jalapenos (about 10 ounces)
    1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic

You expressed my feelings on the cravings as well – an annoyance that I can overlook. The first week was harder for me than it is now (I’m also in week 3) but not eating pasta, potatoes, crackers, etc. has been a great help to my life these past 3 weeks. Hooray for the Blood Sugar Solution!

    Hi Kym,
So sorry for that tiny setback but this is a good lesson for ALL of us! My husband is doing the advanced plan with me (more for moral support than a real desire on his part) and I told him how I plan to continue eating this way to the best of my ability after the six weeks is over. I asked him if he will continue as well. He was quite…[Read more]

    Day 19, Week 3 day 4
Went out of town during Easter and stayed true to plan fairly well. I ate at a couple an Asian buffet and at a Golden Corral buffet. I stuck with my meats and vegetables and salad. Unfortunately some of the meat at both of the resturaunts had a hint of sweetness to the sauce the meat was cooked in but all in all, I feel I was…[Read more]

    • Hi Sye,

Could you share your chia drink with me?

In reply to: Donna posted an update I made the corn tortilla’s and I have to say BLAND is the word. I will try the chip recipe with them and see if they are at all improved. Donna View

I think I might like some corn tortillas when I get off of the advanced plan – is that recipe in the book?

    • Yes it is on page 279, not how to make the tortillias from scratch (I got that on line) but how to make them into chips.

Donut BAD, carrot GOOD! lol! Saute some onions and bell peppers on medium heat with olive oil and throw in some already cooked chicken, ground beef or steak; the sweet notes from the vegetables will taste great! You may want to cook the onions/vegs until they caramelize but I don’t know if that’s ‘legal’ or not (?) Maybe someone who knows…[Read more]

    Hi hawaiiBarbara,
In the morning when I have green smoothies, I put chia and flax seeds in the mix, although now my blender is broke so I won’t be making my regular smoothies until I get a new one (I’ll just have the seed w/o any greens)

    Day 10 – Week 2 day 3
All things food wise were similar to my other days:green smoothie, chicken, ground beef with vegetables.
Felt pretty good. My bowels aren’t moving as well as at the beginning; I really need to do some more vigorous exercise as well as increase my water intake which has not been as much as it should be.

Breakfast was a green smoothie with water, Italian parsley, turnip greens, chia seeds, flax seeds and nutritional yeast.
