Depression 1 year agoI’ve been on antidepressants for 20 years. It sure is hard to get motivated when you’re down. Any support I can get will be very appreciated. I would like to give support too.

Diabesity / Diabetes 1 year agoA natural doctor told me I had Metabolic X Syndrome. Not a diabetic yet, but possibly putting too much insulin out there. Would love to get that under control. My husband is a full-fledged diabetic. I’m trying to pave the way for him to eat better…although he is better at exercise than I am.

This is the best place for the support and answers you need. The plan really works. (I am just ending week 4. My bg is normal (80’s) and my bp is much lower (was 140/90, not 114/74). Yep. You are definitely in the right place. Best of luck.

Skin Conditions 1 year agoHi there folks. Is there anyone else here who deals with psoriasis? Especially on the scalp? Would love to figure out a way to get rid of it.

I am dealing with that… I was hoping beyond all hope that this would help alleviate it…. I’m only starting this program now, so have nothing to compare yet. How long have you been with the program?

Gastrointestinal Disorders 1 year agoHello all. I am trying to start the Blood Sugar Solution…but just got hit with a hard case of IBS. If I eat nuts, or anything with a lot of fiber (like the PGX Daily) I am on the couch taking peppermint capsules and putting a heating pad on my tummy. Help! I’d like to get started.
I’m also a little worried, because while I was testing…[Read more]-

I’m right there with you- I understand. I just started the ultrasimple diet today in hopes of decreasing inflammation & losing a few pounds- I’m not sure how it differs from the BSS.
I have had to delay starting this diet so many times as I have had recurrent c diff infections which leaves you wiht terrible post infection IBS.
I decided I just…[Read more] -

My understanding of peppermint and spearmint anything on a sick gut is not recommended. Better is ginger and/or chamomile.Just a suggestion.

Just starting to get my numbers in and start a journal. I already have lots of Pilates, Yoga and Walking tapes and DVDs. I also have Wii. So that is taken care of . Now I have to get my act together and get motivated. I’ve had terrible IBS and all I want to do is lay around with a heating pad on my stomach. Gained 5 lbs just changing to this…[Read more]

I’m just starting this. I”m in the preparatory week. Kind of hesitant considering no one in my family, including my husband, is into this. I travel a bit, and I have terrible cravings. I’ve been cooking the recipes for the past 2 weeks just to get used to them and the ingredients. Even got a VitaMix. But I woke up this morning and found I…[Read more]

My family was against it too. They didn’t like that I refused to eat items at dinner. I started making my own things. They did not encourage me. Now they see my success and see why I am doing it. I travel all the time and I figured out how to shop and cook in the hotel or be picky in the restaurants. You will do great!

Sending you positive energy. It’s even more commendable that you’d do this without at home support, but it’s exactly why this community exists. Take it one day at a time and correct as you go along. I’m in prep week 2, so I am just starting too. It’s a challenge, but our health and vibrancy are worth it. Be well!

Hi, I had little support for the BSS plan as well. I have successfully used this site to help keep me on track. As you start to feel better you may notice the people around you becoming more supportive. Also, remember that you doing something they cannot or will not do is, unconsciously, mildly threatening. Most people are more comfortable with…[Read more]

No one in my family will do this either. I have lost 20 lbs (ish) I don’t know for sure I didn’t weigh first. You do it for yourself, NOT THEM!

Diabesity / Diabetes 1 year, 1 month agoHi there y’all. I’m brand, spankin’ new to this, so I would love to just sit in a corner and check you all out for a bit. My husband has diabetes and he has been on medication (metformin and others) for 10 years now. He is really good at exercising, but he is about 30 lbs overweight. I’m about 15 lbs overweight and have diabetes and heart…[Read more]

Hi tptvox! Welcome! I’ve had type 2 diabetes for 10 years and have been on the advanced program for 5 weeks now. 2 words : IT WORKS!. My BG numbers are down, down , down, Dr. took me off 80% of one of my meds, I’ve lost weight and inches and my BMI has dropped from 33.31 to 29.0! I feel better, moods much more stable, hardly no cravings and I…[Read more]

My teen daughter’s depression is turning around with the diet and fish oil. She’s not 100% compliant but it is working and a whole lot cheaper than talk therapy so give it a whirl and see what happens. We are all relieved to see her experiencing less mood swings, PMS and whatnot. Other inflammatory symptoms are also going ways.

I am new to this too. Today was day 1 of the advanced plan. I am feeling the withdrawals from sugar and caffeine. Hope it gets better in a day or two. It is encouraging to read all these positive comments. Have you found the online journal? I can’t seem to find it. Good Luck!

In reply to: shepardgirl2 posted an update in the group Sleep Problems I have been taken ambien and ativan in order to sleep for 8 years. My husband has big trouble with insomnia because he has to work all over the world and the time changes so much. He and I use ambien too. I do only when I absolutely have to, and on overseas flights when I know I have to hit the ground running. He uses it too much and he uses more than I do. I’m hoping that I can learn enough…[Read more]

Jet lagged to the max. Up since 4:30am. What a day to start prep phase. Would love a cup of coffee right now. But not doing it. Using green tea. Had quinoa w/apples, cinnamon, walnuts and almonds and soy milk this morning. 3 hours later, had a banana. Ready for a nap and it’s 11:45am. My poor dog doesn’t know what to do with me. LOL

Bananas are really high in sugar I don’t think I recall seeing them on the 6 week plan. Did I miss that are they in the book as ok to eat in the 6 week faze?

I look forward to seeing how you improve. We have a friend who suffers with depression I’d love to see if this would help him too.
I found that eating salmon at least 3 times a week has help me feel less gloomy. I have had a very good Week 1 and am now starting Week 2 tomorrow. I am feeling my feelings much more strongly but less depressed. The fish oil is also important and I remembered to take it most days at the beginning of the meal, like he says. Good Luck!
I agree, getting motivated when you are down is difficult because I have been there. But the hope of improved health and a better quality of life begins one day at a time. These community sites are also inspirational and encouraging. Like Dr. Hyman says in his book, if we just cut out sugar and white flour we will go along way to improving our…[Read more]
I just checked the box at the top of this page under Health Conditions and you will find Dr. Hymans suggestions about depression. He treats the whole body, not just the symptoms.
