This is not unusual…it is called Dawning..around 2-3 am my blood sugar always goes up…If I eat a spoon of peanut butter before going to bed or a few nuts it seems to minimize it. Once your blood sugars stabilize and you’ve been eating healthy your fasting blood sugar should settle down to in the 80′s. Check your blood sugar around 1-2 am a…[Read more]

Last night I watched a show on pbs all about hot dogs…. Since last night, hot dogs have been calling my name…. I was bound and determined to get a hot dog this morning on the way to work….. and then I realized… I can see…. no, literally, I can see…. when my blood sugar is high, everything is blurry… but I can see quite clearly today…[Read more]

“Forbidden meat sticks”: that’s what I call them now. Even after a year I still feel their force trying to pull me in…but I look at them as a non healing food…I win the battle over the “forbidden meat sticks.” Congrats on your win and the success with lower blood sugars!

Wow…clear vision! That is great ! I was diagnosed with retinal neuropathy a while back..when I went in for my last eye check the doctor said that my retinal neuropathy had completely reversed itself . Now if that isn’t motivation to stay on track and keep eating healthy I don’t know what is….my goal is to have everything I eat have healing…[Read more]

Chard, tomatoes, onions, blueberries, sweet peppers, lettuce are in. I will be adding kale, carrots, beets, squash and hot peppers in the next few weeks.
Blessings, Margaret

Today, after 40+ years of life, I can say with some certainty, that I am accustomed to drinking water and only water. No it’s not a rave review… but it is a great milestone for me. be well everyone, be well! Today for lunch some mustard and turnip greens mixed with steak strips. (mouth already watering!)… If it can be done… I can do it!

Good Morning to you Margaret…I have gotten up at basically the same time since my son was born 35+ years ago. Luckily my husband Phill is also an early riser and usually is up and about and drinking his coffee before me. My routine is pretty set each morning, Check my blood sugar, make my ultra shake and a cup of herbal tea, drink my ultra…[Read more]

Question: Doctor’s say you should not eat after 7 pm if you are diabetic, however, when I do that, upon awakening at 6 am my blood sugar is high and then even higher by 7 or 8 am, without eating. (informed about the dawn phenomenon/effect) So what’s the verdict on eating after 7 pm?

In reply to: lynnadee745 posted an update I don’t like fishy fish, like salmon and mackrel, nor do I like winter squashs or yams. What are some acceptable substitutions? Viewi like tilapia, it has a firm texture and doesn’t smell fishy

OK Vincent, It sounds like you are really enjoying this plan. Thanks for the post, Margaret
Sounds tasty, Vincent! Next time you’re out shopping for produce, why don’t you give romaine, mixed greens, spinach and other greens a try? They have more nutrition than iceberg lettuce, so they pack quite a punch to your meal. Lately I’ve bought organic spring greens, a nice change from the romaine I usually buy.
