On this episode of The Doctor’s Farmacy, I was happy to sit down and talk with Dr. Chris Rinsch and Dr. Stuart Phillips about the role of mitochondria in aging, and how we can use various compounds that are found in plants to upregulate our biology and increase not just our lifespan, but more importantly our healthspan.

And our cells protect themselves from this decline by stimulating the selective recycling of old or damaged mitochondria into new healthy ones. This process is known as mitophagy.

In our conversation, Drs. Phillips and Rinsch share how Urolithin A, a naturally-occurring metabolite found in certain foods, such as pomegranate, some nuts, and berries stimulates mitophagy.
