Is there a way to reverse climate change?
Climate change is a real threat, and if we don’t pay attention to it now, it could soon be too late.
Every single year, our climate is in worse shape than the year before. Industrialization has caused a rapid increase in the temperature of our planet and we are now living in a hotter climate than any of our ancestors did.
Though it may seem all doom and gloom, there is hope. But only if we get smart now and take action.
If you missed this week’s episode of The Doctor’s Farmacy, David Wallace-Wells joined me to talk about the state of climate change and what that means for the future of the earth and humankind.
David is an internationally recognized journalist, best known for his bestselling book, The Uninhabitable Earth: Life After Warming, and is also deputy editor of New York magazine.
In this episode, we sat down to talk about the reasons climate change is such an urgent issue and some of the impacts you might not know about. For example, ancient plagues are encapsulated in frozen parts of the world; melting ice means we could be facing a revival of new diseases.
We also discuss what a warming planet means for food production; due to dry soils and temperatures farmers and crops aren’t acclimated to, yields will decrease as our population continues to increase, creating a new brand of food insecurity.
These are only some of the many major issues that will be brought on by climate change. But what about solutions?
David and I get into some of the things we can start doing right away to lessen our own contributions towards climate change, as well as what big-picture action looks like for our global community.
I hope you’ll tune in to get empowered—you can make a difference in climate change.
